Finance Director

The organization

Bird Control Group (based in Delft) is an innovative and sustainable market leader in animal-friendly repelling of birds that disrupts the primary process of customers or cause other nuisance. Birds cause crop damage every year, destroy and pollute roofs, cause unsafe situations at airports and ensure the transmission of around 60 diseases. Using smart laser technology, Bird Control Group focusses on farmers, industrial customers and airports. By using their green lasers, they reduce bird nuisance by more than 70% and thus prevent financial damage for various companies.

The organization is active in 90 countries (Australia, EMEA and America) and 40 colleagues work from the Netherlands, North America and Australia, of which thirty at the office in Delft. It is an international environment and the culture can be described as dynamic, ambitious and informal.

The desired candidate profile

We are looking for a Finance Director who fits in a scale-up phase. Someone who is hands-on, innovative, transition-oriented and wants to build. With a can-do mentality, who understands that sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves and sees it as a challenge that things end up on your desk that you have never done before. Someone who is curious, has a commercial attitude, always thinks about the business impact and who has the potential to be a strong business partner within the long term. 

  • Completed relevant economic education at university level, ideally supplemented with an RA/RC;
  • Has at least 8 years of experience as a (Business or Financial) Controller, preferably in a scale-up or very fast growing environment.

The job profile

In this broad position you are part of the Leadership Team. You are the go-to person for all financial topics, both within the organization and towards external stakeholders. You know how to translate the strategic plan into the right financial, operational and commercial KPIs. You are closely involved in strategic issues within the organization. You actively contribute to various business cases regarding potential (new) business models, (international) expansion, substantiating and adjusting the budget & forecast, cost performance analyses, pricing strategies and the financing & capital structure. You are also responsible for the periodic management reporting & analysis, which are discussed both within the MT and with the investors. In addition, in this role you have IT in your portfolio. The implementation of this is currently outsourced to an external party.
