Quintes Holding is one of the largest insurance brokers operating nationwide in the Netherlands, focusing on commercial-and personal line insurance and employee benefits. Since 2020 Quintes is an Aquiline company. Over the last 3 years, Quintes has acquired over 40 companies and as of 2021 holds a strong position in the top 10 of insurance brokers in the Netherlands. Quintes has grown from 350 colleagues in 2000 to over 800 colleagues in 14 locations, servicing over 60.000 organizations and over 100.000 individuals. Recently Quintes  has entered into an agreement with Brown & Brown Inc. that enables Brown & Brown Inc. to acquire Quintes.

After successfully securing a strong footprint and product portfolio in the Netherlands, it is now time for the next step in their growth journey. They see ample opportunities to reach these growth in the Dutch market and have the ambition to enter the Belgian market as well.

The job profile

To support their growth ambition, Quintes is looking for a strong Divisional CFO (Netherlands) who can manage growth, partner with the CEO and Management Team in running all aspects of the business. Ensuring a strong and scalable financial organization in a highly regulated environment. To act as a business partner and advisor to the CEO, Management Team and stakeholders, the CFO should not only be a skilled functional specialist but combine in-depth knowledge and an agile communication style with business understanding and common sense. With this strategic mindset, the CFO will capture the full complexity, scale and potential of Quintes.

  • Act a business partner to the CEO and within the Management Team.. Key role in the design, tracking and execution of the growth strategy. Bringing the conceptual capability to set long term objectives in- and outside of the finance domain and at the same time dig into the details, while continuously offering a countervailing power as the financial conscience of the organization;
  • Build and manage a best in class, compliant and scalable finance function; e.g. ensure data quality and integrity, uniform accounting & reporting processes, continuous improvement of management reporting (KPI’s, benchmarking, market information), setting up (international) group structures including consolidation, international financial compliance, tax and treasury processes and ensuring a modern (financial) systems landscape;
  • Manage, train and inspire the Finance team of 30 colleagues spread out over the HQ in Waardenburg (Management Control, Financial Control and Annual Accounts) and local offices (Accountants);
  • Manage a diverse internal and external stakeholder landscape:
    - Internal: Supervisory Board, CEO Netherlands, Management Team, local Branch Management and business, European Management, CFO (UK) and Group CFO (US);
    - External: Clients, Insurers, Banks, Regulators, External Accountants and advisors.
  • Lead annual budget process, and quarterly forecasting, including commentary on business performance;
  • Lead monthly reporting to Group and European teams;
  • Lead Accounting function in accordance with Group Requirements (IFRS - US GAAP transition), implement and operate Brown & Brown Internal Controls and manage local compliance;
  • Coordinate with local auditors – stats and U.S. GAAP, in coordination with head office;
  • Support tax strategy and compliance, in coordination with  Group Tax;
  • Capital allocation – ensure investment cases are completed, reviewed for adequate returns, and actuals are monitored vs original expectations, including evaluation of earn-outs/earn-ups.  Coordinate with M&A team;
  • Manage working capital, to optimize collections of debtors and payments to insurance companies.

The ideal candidate

You are an inspirational and empathetic personality facilitating growth while enhancing financial stewardship, transparency, compliance and performance. The new CFO has a high energy level, a can-do mentality and is somebody who is always “on”. And has the ability to switch from strategy and the "big picture" to the details seamlessly, with a pragmatic and action oriented approach. 

To be successful in this fast paced, high demanding environment, we expect the CFO to have a proven track record to build value both via tenacity, push power and proactivity as well as the ability to think outside of the box. We are looking for somebody with a high level of personal integrity and the ability to demonstrate stamina in pressured situations with stakeholders.

  • You have completed a Master’s degree in Finance (supplemented with a post- master RA degree); 
  • 15+ years’ experience preferably within Financial Services and/or in a complex, highly regulated environment;
  • Experience in high growth and/or highly transitional  environments;
  • Proven track record in further professionalizing (operational) financial processes and to embed a strong control, insights and compliance structure;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
